As of version 2018.5.0, ADD Administrators have the ability to assign a specific System permission, Self-Service UploadUpload means to transmit data from a computer or other source into ADD., at the group level allowing the group’s users to Upload a File for Processing Later in Media Manager. DataComprises documents, numbers, files, emails, and any other information stored on a digital device. In eCapture, refers to the electronic files that are discovered and processed. may be processed into those Cases to which the group has been assigned.

The case level permission, Self-Service Upload & Process, must be assigned for a group whose users will require the function Upload a File to Process into Review. With this option, data streams through ADD, which automatically extracts files, metadata and text, performs OCROptical character recognition. In eCapture, OCR text is created during a Processing Job, if possible. Otherwise, extracted text is created. A separate text file is created for each page processed., and filters out unwanted documents. The processed files are then automatically loaded into Review.

If both the System permission and the case level permission are assigned, then both functions will be available.

Files that are uploaded through Self-Service can be monitored in Media Manager. To preserve data integrity, particularly document dates, it is strongly recommended that only archives be uploaded. For example: file archives (such as .ZIP files), mail archives (such as .PST files), or forensic image files (such as .E01 files).

Self-Service is accessed through the ADD Home page. All Media Manager users, and users defined with the Self-Service permission, can use the Self-Service component. ADD administrators manage users as described in Manage Users and Groups.

To preserve data integrity, particularly document dates, only archive/container type files can be uploaded. An error will occur if you attempt to import a file that is not in an archive/container format.
