Use Patents Explorer Right-Click Context Menu

There are several ways you can use the Patents Explorer to manage the documents in your case. The right-click context menu in the explorer provides several additional options to make your workflow quicker and more efficient.

Right-Click on Document

The following table explains the options in the context menu when you right-click on a patent. There are different options that appear when you right-click on an individual page of a patent. Those options are explained in the next section of this article.

Add Document

Opens the Add Documents dialog box.

Open Document

Opens the work area for the selected patent.

Send Item(s) to Workbook

Initiates the process to move any documents selected in the Patents Explorer to a selected workbook.

Present Item

Sends the selected item to Presentation. This option is only available if Presentation is installed and can only be selected if Presentation is running.

Remove Document

Removes the selected document.

Properties

Opens the Properties dialog for the selected document.

Right-Click on a Page

If you expand the Pages subfolder of a patent, you can right-click on an individual page to display a context menu with additional options. These additional options allow you to add the page to one of the subfolders associated with that patent. The following table explains the options in the right-click context menu for an individual page:

Open Document

Opens the work area for the selected patent.

Add Figure

Opens the Add Figure dialog box, which allows you to provide a custom name and description for the selected page, and to save the selected page to the Figures subfolder.

Add Column

Opens the Add Column dialog box, which allows you to provide a custom name and description for the selected page, and to save the selected page to the Columns subfolder.

Add Claim

Opens the Add Claim dialog box, which allows you to provide a custom name and description for the selected page, and to save the selected page to the Claims subfolder.

Send Item(s) to Workbook

Initiates the process to move any documents selected in the Patents Explorer to a selected workbook.

Present Item

Sends the selected item to Presentation. This option is only available if Presentation is installed and can only be selected if Presentation is running.

Remove Item(s)

Removes the selected item(s). A warning message displays prior to removal. To proceed with the removal, click Yes.

Properties

Opens the Properties dialog for the selected document.
