Create an Exhibit from Transcript Text

You can create an Exhibit from a selection of text within a transcript using the Transcript Work Area. This functionality allows you to image a specific excerpt of a transcript, which you can then present, print, and/or PDF. This feature is compatible with both text transcripts and DVTs (Digital Video Transcripts).

To create an exhibit within a transcript, follow the steps below:

  1. From the dashboard, click the Presentation module.

  2. Click the EVIDENCE tab in the left navigation panel.

  3. Open the needed case by double-clicking the case name in the Cases table. Alternatively, you can select the appropriate case name, then click the Open Case button in the ribbon bar above the table.

  4. Open the Transcripts Explorer.

If the Transcripts Explorer is not visible, you can open it using the Explorers dropdown in the TRIAL DIRECTOR EVIDENCE Main Menu.

Click the drop-down arrow and then click Transcripts.

By default, the Transcripts Explorer tab is found on the left of the window.

  5. Select a transcript from the list.

  6. Click the Open button in the ribbon bar in the Transcripts Explorer.

The transcript opens and appears in the work area.

  7. Select the text you would like to image.

  8. Right-click on the selected lines. In the context menu that appears, click the Create Exhibit button.

  9. In the Create Exhibit dialog box, enter a name for the exhibit. The default name includes the name of the transcript, plus the page and line reference numbers.

  10. Click Save. The imaged exhibit is saved in the Documents Explorer.

Note: If the exhibit spans multiple pages within the transcript, a separate page is created in the Documents Explorer for each transcript page. In the example below, the exhibit (King, Stacy - VOL 1 - 17.18-18.2) spanned two pages of the transcript. As such, the text from each page was imaged separately.
